भारत में विश्व का सबसे बड़ा जनगणना-2027 का अभियान शुरू हो गया है। यह देश के सबसे बड़े प्रशासनिक और सांख्यिकीय अभियान का आरंभ है। यह पूरी तरह डिजिटल डेटा कैप्चर के साथ स्व-गणना की सुविधा वाली भारत की पहली जनगणना है। हर कल्याणकारी योजना, हर निर्वाचन क्षेत्र की सीमा, हर विकास योजना जनगणना के आंकड़ों पर आधारित होती है। यह जनगणना इसलिए भी विशेष है क्योंकि आजादी के बाद पहली बार इस पूरी प्रक्रिया में जातिगत जनगणना भी शामिल की गई है। सामाजिक समरसता और न्याय की दिशा में यह एक प्रभावी कदम है। जनगणना का सीधा अर्थ है, देश के प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की गणना और उससे संबंधित सामाजिक-आर्थिक जानकारी का संकलन। जनगणना से प्राप्त आंकड़े सरकार की नीतियों का आधार बनते हैं। जनगणना की सफलता केवल सरकार के प्रयासों पर निर्भर नहीं करती, बल्कि इसमें जन सहभागिता भी उतनी ही महत्वपूर्ण है।

India has commenced Census 2027-the world's largest headcount of its population. This marks the beginning of the country's most extensive administrative and statistical exercise. It is India's first census to feature self-enumeration, along with a fully digital data capture mechanism. Every welfare scheme, every electoral constituency, and every development plan is made based on census data. This census is also noteworthy because for the first time since independence, a caste census has been incorporated into the overall process. This constitutes a decisive step towards fostering social harmony and justice. In simple terms, a census involves the enumeration of every individual within a country and the compilation of associated socio-economic data.
