1. About The University
Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur (RUHS) was established under the Act of State
Government “The Rajasthan University of Health Sciences Act, 2005” (Act No. 1 of 2005) on
25th February 2005. The University aims to disseminate and advance knowledge in the field
of medical and allied health sciences. It provides academic and research facilities across
various government and private institutions (Medical, Dental, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences,
and Pharmacy) affiliated with it.

2. Faculties
Rajasthan University of Health Sciences is one of the largest teaching and training universities
in Rajasthan having four constituent and 591 affiliated colleges. The University has played a
significant role in expanding access to healthcare education across the state. At present there
are five faculties in university:
2.1 Faculty of Medicine
The faculty of Medicine offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in various
medical disciplines. Graduates from this faculty have secured prestigious positions in India and

2.2 Faculty of Dentistry
This faculty provides quality dental education and training in BDS and MDS course. Students
have achieved recognition at national and international levels. Number of Colleges: 07
2.3 Faculty of Nursing
The Faculty of Nursing is one of the largest contributors to healthcare workforce development
and provides education in post-basic nursing, B.Sc. nursing, and M. Sc nursing along with

The Faculty of Pharmacy offers D pharma and B pharma along with M. Pharma courses in

2. Introduction of The Program
The Six-Month Certificate Course in Foreign Languages has been introduced by Rajasthan
University of Health Sciences (RUHS), Jaipur, as a forward-looking academic initiative aimed
at enhancing the global competencies of healthcare students seeking carrier opportunities
across the globe. In the contemporary era of globalization, the healthcare sector has expanded
beyond geographical boundaries, require professionals to interact with individuals from diverse
linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Effective communication has thus become a fundamental
requirement in clinical practice, academic exchange, and international collaboration.
Recognizing this emerging need, the University has designed this programme to equip students
with essential language skills in widely spoken foreign languages such as French and German.
The course aims to bridge communication gaps between healthcare providers and patients
belonging to different regions and linguistic groups, thereby improving the quality of
healthcare delivery and patient satisfaction.
The programme also facilitates participation in international academic platforms, conferences,
exchange programmes, and collaborative research initiatives. It enables students to access

foreign language proficiency, students can broaden their academic horizons and explore

3. Objectives of The Program
1. To develop functional proficiency in foreign languages among healthcare students by
providing structured training in widely used international languages such as French and
German, enabling them to communicate effectively in academic and professional settings.
2. To enhance communication skills in healthcare environments by focusing on listening,
speaking, reading, and writing abilities, thereby reducing language barriers between
healthcare professionals and patients from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
3. To improve patient interaction and quality of healthcare delivery by equipping
students with the ability to understand and respond to patients’ needs in multilingual
contexts, ensuring better diagnosis, treatment, and patient satisfaction.
4. To promote intercultural awareness and sensitivity by exposing students to different
cultural perspectives associated with foreign languages, enabling them to work efficiently
in multicultural environments and providing patient-centred care.
5. To strengthen academic and research capabilities by enabling students to access
international academic resources, participate in global conferences, and collaborate with

4. Phases of Course Implementation
Phase I
Implementation at RUHS College of Nursing Sciences (Nodal Center).
As a pilot initiative, the program will initially be introduced at RUHS College of Nursing
Sciences and students from RUHS College of Nursing Sciences and Government College of
Nursing , Jaipur . will be registered
Note: If seats remain vacant, then students of other constituent colleges of RUHS shall be
registered
- Phase II
Expansion to all Government Nursing Colleges affiliated with RUHS. (Includes colleges
under RAJMES.)
Focus on scaling operations based on insights from the pilot phase.
Phase III
Further expansion to all colleges affiliated with RUHS.
Broad implementation across institutions to maximize reach and impact.
These phases ensure a structured and scalable implementation, starting with a controlled
pilot, followed by broader rollout and eventual full-scale expansion

Mode of Selection
● The selection of candidates for admission to the Six-Month Certificate Course in
Foreign Languages shall be done in a phased manner as per University norms.
● In the first phase, admission will be offered to nursing students of RUHS College of
Nursing Sciences, Jaipur, and Government College of Nursing, S.M.S. Hospital, Jaipur.
Students enrolled in all academic years of B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing programs,
The selection process shall be strictly merit-based. Merit will be determined according
to the marks obtained in the most recent University examination. In the case of firstyear students, where University examination results are not available, marks secured in
the XII standard examination shall be considered for preparation of the merit list.
Admission shall be granted subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria and availability
of seats. Preference for enrolment in the language course shall be accorded to final-year
nursing students.
5. Course Structure
1) Duration of the Course
The duration of the Foreign Language Certification Course is 60 hours (48 hours
online + 12 hours offline) to be covered over a period of six months. It is designed to
provide comprehensive training in the selected language. The time frame is structured
in such a way that students can gradually progress from basic language concepts to
functional conversational proficiency.
6. Mode of Teaching & Schedule
The course is conducted in a hybrid mode, combining both online and offline learning
methodologies. Online sessions focus on theoretical aspects such as grammar, vocabulary, and
comprehension, while offline sessions emphasize practical training, including speaking,
listening, and interactive activities.
1) Languages Offered
Students can opt for one of the following internationally recognized languages:
French and German.
2) Batch Size and Intake Capacity
Each batch consists of a limited number of seats (30 per language) to ensure
personalized attention, effective interaction, and better learning outcomes.
3) Class Schedule
Classes will be conducted on designated days of the week, with two sessions of one
hour each per week. Interactive sessions and assessments are held once every 15
days (Preferably on Sunday). The schedule is designed to accommodate students’
academic commitments while ensuring consistent learning progress. Interactive
sessions shall be organized at the RUHS College of Nursing Sciences.
4) Curriculum Design
The curriculum is structured to cover all essential components of language learning,
including grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing skills, listening
comprehension, and spoken communication. The content is designed progressively,
starting from basic concepts and advancing to practical usage.

5) Practical Training Component
Special emphasis is placed on practical communication skills, where students
engage in activities such as role plays, group discussions, dialogues, and real-life
simulations relevant to healthcare scenarios. This helps in developing confidence and
fluency in the language.
6) Teaching Methodology
The course adopts a learner-centric approach, encouraging active participation,
interactive learning, and continuous engagement. Audio-visual aids, digital tools, and
language labs may be used to enhance the learning experience.
7) Attendance Requirement
Students are required to maintain a minimum attendance of 75% in both online and
offline sessions. Regular attendance is essential for effective learning and eligibility to
appear in the final examination.
8) Continuous Evaluation
The course includes periodic assessments, assignments, and class participation to
monitor student progress throughout the program. The assessments will be both
summative and formative. This ensures continuous improvement and a better
understanding of the language.
9) Integration with Healthcare Context
The course content is designed to include healthcare-related communication
scenarios, enabling students to apply language skills in clinical and patient-care
environments.
10) Flexibility and Accessibility
The hybrid mode ensures flexibility, allowing students to attend online sessions
conveniently while benefiting from in-person practical training during offline classes.
11) Progressive Learning Approach
The course follows a step-by-step progression, starting from basic language skills to
intermediate conversational ability, ensuring that students develop a strong foundation
and gradually achieve confidence in communication.
12)Effective and socially appropriate communication
The course will allow students to communicate in the foreign language with awareness of cultural and professional norms in both informal and professional
contexts.
Schedule of Classes
1. Weekly Class Schedule
The classes are conducted two times a week, typically on Monday, and Saturday, ensuring a balanced distribution of learning sessions without interfering with students’ regular academic schedules.
2. Duration of Each Session
Each class session is of 1hour duration, allowing sufficient time for both theoretical instruction and practical exercises within a single session.
3. Course Timeline
The course is conducted over a period of six months, during which students undergo continuous training and evaluation. The schedule is structured to ensure gradual and consistent progress in language learning.
4. Flexibility in Timings
The class timings are planned in a student-friendly manner, considering academic commitments and institutional schedules. Efforts are made to ensure maximum participation and convenience for students.
5. Offline Session Planning
Offline sessions are scheduled periodically, focusing on practical training and interactive activities, ensuring that students get hands-on experience in using the language effectively.
6. Assessment Schedule Integration
Periodic assessments, assignments, and evaluations are integrated into the schedule to
monitor student progress and provide continuous feedback.
7. Attendance Monitoring
Attendance is recorded for all sessions, and students are required to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible for final evaluation.

1. Nature of the Programme
The Six-Month Certification Course in Foreign Languages is offered under the SelfFinancing Scheme (SFS) of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur.
2. Registration Fee
Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of ₹1,100/- at the time of submission of the online application form.
3. Course Fee
The course fee is ₹10,000/-(Rs Ten Thousand only), which is payable by the candidates upon confirmation of admission. This fee covers the cost of academic instruction, faculty remuneration, and infrastructure utilization throughout the
Duration of the course.
4. Final Authority
The Rajasthan University of Health Sciences reserves the right to revise or modify the fee structure as per policy decisions, and such decisions shall be final and binding on all candidates.
8. Assessment & Evaluation
1. Overview of Evaluation System
The assessment and evaluation system for the Foreign Language Certification Course is designed to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of students’ progress and proficiency in the selected language. It includes both regular internal assessment and final examination,
focusing on theoretical knowledge as well as practical communication skills.
2. Components of Internal Assessment
The internal assessment may consist of activities such as written assignments, vocabulary exercises, listening comprehension tasks, oral presentations, and participation in classroom discussions. These activities are designed to monitor students’ understanding and encourage active engagement in learning.
3. Final Examination
At the end of the course, students are required to appear for a final examination, which
assesses their overall proficiency in the language. The examination is structured to
evaluate both theoretical understanding and practical communication abilities.
4. Weightage of Marks
The evaluation system generally follows a combined marking scheme, where internal
assessment and final examination contribute to the overall score. Internal assessment
carry 20% weightage, while the final examination carries 80% weightage, or as
prescribed by the University.
5. Minimum Qualifying Marks
Students are required to secure a minimum of 40% marks in both internal assessment
and final examination separately in order to successfully complete the course.
9. Certification
1. Award of Certificate
Upon successful completion of the Six-Month Certification Course in Foreign Languages,
candidates will have to appear in exam conducted by RUHS .On passing this exam
Certificate of Proficiency by Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS),
Jaipur shall be awarded. The certificate will serve as an official recognition of the
candidate’s achievement and competency in the selected foreign language.
2. Eligibility for Certification
To be eligible for the award of the certificate, candidates must have:
o Successfully completed the entire duration of the course
o Maintained the prescribed minimum attendance (75%)
o Secured the minimum qualifying marks in both internal assessment and final examination
